This series follows the original artwork of the animation in the 2013 American documentary film “Cutie and the Boxer”, which was nominated in 2014 for an Academy Award for the best documentary film and won an Emmy award for the best documentary film in 2016. Many American movie critics highly acclaimed the animation and the footage as the two major deciding factors of this. After the movie was released, her original artwork became a book and an e-book named “Cutie and B---”, which charmed many people.
Please enjoy Cutie’s love and magic in this exhibition. We are looking forward to all of you coming.
Something mysterious has been happening. A flock of migratory wild geese returning to Canada from the south in early spring usually visits for a few days along the East River in the Dumbo district of Brooklyn, where I live. Yet this spring, a pair of the wild geese started raising five goslings that seemed to have been born in the park in Dumbo.
Corona, Covid19, has brought not only the silence to the world, but also clear skies, clear rivers and sea, fresh air, swimming dolphins in the canals of Venice, and even swans visiting there. Smog was scattered, then distant and high mountains clearly appeared all over the world. Times Square in New York, which is usually crowded, looks like a Ghost Town with no people, and that makes me scared.
I wish I could go to the clear water canal of Venice. I wish I could see the Himalayan Mountains from the ground. I wish I could breathe the air from all over the world. However, now the only thing that I can do is just wear a mask and go for a walk in the park in Dumbo. Nine months have passed even without being able to go to Times Square, where the clear light drifts, because of the fear of infection on the subway. Yes, there is the magic of Cutie. Let's fly by teleportation. I want to fly to Paris, which I visited in January of this year, and transform into Josephin Baker, being metamorphosed!
Lovers, you don't have to kiss through your phone or computer anymore. It’s all right as long as you’ve got Cutie's Magic.
