WanYu Wang is a young and spirited Taiwanese photographer.
Even though she is only 24 years old, she has exhibited energetically and successfully her works at home and abroad.
The “specimen” series, presented in this exhibition, is a self-portrait series of being wrapped up. Behind the wrap, she does not have to feel bashful to show herself. Then a "specimen" that we can look at again and again is now completed. In these "beautiful butterflies", hided on purpose her faces which could be focused and be judged subjectively, her tiny privacy can get retained.
This execution is also how she preserve the loveliness, with wrapping it by photographs, one by one.
WanYu says, "Maybe I am too narcissistic, maybe I was girly once, maybe I am still drown in the loveliness that I have hypothesized. "
But still, this kind of innocent sensation dedicated to adolescents must had been existed in anyone’s minds. Through her roles differed from herself who narrates the story, and the fear, the dread and the loneliness in her memory, we experience them as if they had been our own.
"I want to keep my prettiness. I dont want to be forgotten. "
How egoistic, fragile, but also earnestly and lovely desire is...?

I always want to talk about 'communication' through my works. I really hope people can communicate by understanding their differences and accepting their varieties. So I have expressed the social tension caused by absence of communication making my works with familiar forms and expressive methods.
I usually use metal to make my works because I want to express the warm and soft paradoxical characters of metal inside its cold surface. The stereo type about this cold and 'direct' material reflects our character. So, I would like to connect the nature of metal and our cynical nature.
Using air, medium element between we and metal, I recompose shapes to express our various natures by creating flexible, natural and unrestricted forms. The repeated arrangement presents the variety of entity and we are completed as a final form by the both sides characters from the material and shapes of each modular. Therefore, inside a completed object there are various entities, and this represents the effort to ‘communicate.

Ryuji Taira Solo Exhibition
Opening hours: 13:00-19:00
Closed on Mondays
Through the photography which describes what exists in the depth of heart and could be surely seen, Ryuji Taira expresses the essential theme “nature of lives”.
The series of his works sublimed into semipermanent existences by execution of platinum palladium print on Ganpi (Japanese handmade paper), have been mostly presented in the United States: awarded quite a number of prizes both foreign and domestic, and entered into public collections.
At the fotofever (Paris, France) from 11th to 13th November as a first full-dress presentation toward european areas, his works got incomparable admiration as well.
And finally, his exhibition which can be considered as “a return in triumph” is coming in Wada Garou.
Introduced with an exhibition in 2004 in NYC, “Vicissitudes” series describes a nature of “being” and a conception of continuity in the shapes of the seeds, plants and flowers that he has closely nursed, with the alluring frail beauty of these ephemeral elements. This series could be compared to grasping a big “mountain” as a whole.
And then, in the “Bright Shadows series”, Taira goes into a deep forest of this “mountain” and express the relations between “time” and “space”, “being” and his own roots, through his thought on lights and shadows.

WATERSIDE
Opening hours: 13:00-19:00
Closed on Mondays
Mother Water
Like controlling everything in the universe, the Water existes with all kind of working in each lives.
Standing close by, capturing her streamline, spray or moisture, supple but in the same time powerful,
let’s listen carefully the heartbeat of lives.
Through his dynamic panoramas, Kei Ohnaka expresses a spirituality that each spaces have.
In this exhibition, he exhibits the WATERSIDE series composed mostly of photographs in hanging scroll style, which was favorably received in Art Chicago 2011.
We will feel, in a natural way as listening the murmuring of a stream, a gentle fresh breeze in his works, though we might occasionally be overwhelmed by her power, we will find a great peace of mind which you would have felt in your mother’s arms.
